Around here we know him more as player 456 , but beyond his international impact with Netflix’s The Squid Game “Latest news from ‘The Squid Game’”_ series, South Korean Lee Jung-jae is not only an actor with an extensive resume in which films such as Free us from evil (2020) but also an active and enterprising businessman. And at 49 years old he has decided to turn to another facet, that of director .

And his first film is not exactly an intimate or small production , taking into account the budgets that are handled in South Korea, but a suspenseful thriller full of action scenes. It is Hunt (Namsum) that will take place in the 80s and in which two elite secret service agents must work together to discover and hunt down a North Korean agent infiltrated in their organization.

The film will be presented at the Cannes Film Festival “Latest news from the Cannes Film Festival” , which begins on Tuesday, May 17, and will be screened out of competition in the Midnight Screenings section , where, among others, it will also be possible to see the new film by the unclassifiable Quentin Dupieux , Fumer Fait Tousser .

For this reason, a new trailer for Hunt has also been published , in the original version with English subtitles. A proposal that lasts more than two hours (131 minutes, including credits) and whose progress gives us a good sample of the action that it will contain.

Lee Jung-jae himself, also a producer, has reserved one of the two star roles sharing the lead with Jung Woo-sung (seen in the recent Nest of Vipers “Critique of ‘Nest of Vipers’” or in the South Korean western The Good, the Bad and the Weird ).
