The Mexican Government has designed this tool to coordinate the efforts of the different agencies responsible for protecting citizens in case of major contingency.

On September 6, Mexico's President Enrique Peña Nieto ordered to activate the MX Plan in the face of the threat of Hurricane Katia,  which is approaching the coast of the Latin American nation. In addition to this, the night of this Thursday, September 7, another natural disaster was recorded in the country,  an earthquake of magnitude 8.2  that, along with its replicas, devastated several southern states of its territory.

The National Response Plan MX, or simply Plan MX, was designed precisely for this type of circumstances. It is a civil protection tool developed by the Mexican Government to react to major contingencies.

The plan is activated in the face of impending disasters to coordinate the work of the different national agencies and thus reduce response times and minimize possible losses, as the text of the official document on the Plan states. The initiative is aimed at protecting Mexicans throughout the emergency, as well as providing them with a posteriori support.
Following the activation of the plan, the Ministry of National Defense and the Secretariat of the Navy mobilize their resources to assist affected or affected areas and support, protect and protect the country's residents, as well as organize mobilizations or evacuations to sites of minor risk.

The unique initiative of the Mexican Government is aligned with  the DN - III Plan , the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA), the Navy Plan  and the Federal Police 's Civilian Support Plan , as well as response plans dependencies and entities of the Public Administration, such as PEMEX, the Federal Electricity Commission and CONAGUA, as the official blog of the Presidency of the Republic states.
